Hydroquinone is a phenolic compound that works by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production in the skin.
Indications
Hydroquinone Cream is indicated for:
- Melasma
- Chloasma
- Solar lentigines (sun spots)
- Freckles
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- Uneven skin tone due to excess melanin production
Mechanism of Action
Hydroquinone works by:
- Blocking the conversion of tyrosine to DOPA in melanocytes.
- Slowing down melanin synthesis.
- Gradually fading hyperpigmented patches over weeks to months of use.

How to Use
- Cleanse the area with mild soap and water. Pat dry.
- Apply a thin layer of cream once or twice daily (typically morning and evening) to the affected area only.
- Use sun protection daily to prevent re-darkening and sun-induced irritation.
- Avoid application to the surrounding normal skin to prevent unwanted lightening.
Warnings & Precautions
- For external use only.
- Not a sunscreen: always use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen.
- May cause irritation, dryness, or a burning sensation, especially in sensitive skin.
- Prolonged use (over 3 months) may cause exogenous ochronosis (a rare skin discoloration that appears blue-black).
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without physician supervision.
- Perform a patch test before first use.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to hydroquinone or any component in the formulation.
- Presence of skin irritation, cuts, or eczema on the treatment area.
- Use in children under 12 years unless advised by a healthcare professional.
